Shubhagato Bhattacharjee

Shubhagato Bhattacharjee, also known as Shubho, is a passionate theater enthusiast based in Atlanta, Georgia. His love for theater began at the age of 10 when he represented his small town in an Intra State Theater competition in India. Since then, he has been involved in theater across three continents, exploring various roles as an actor, writer, and director.

As a student and practitioner of stagecraft, he has been involved in theater across 3 continents, be it as an actor, writer or director. His foray into serious theater started with his involvement with The British Council’s Theatre festivals in India. He gained valuable experience in English theater, both Shakespearean and contemporary, working backstage with different theater groups and taking on leading roles on stage. This exposure ignited his passion for storytelling and led him to intern with renowned theater groups in India for three years. During this time, he also worked behind the scenes on three film productions and appeared in five television programs.

In Atlanta, Shubho has been actively involved with two prominent Southeast Asian theater groups, Aabaha and Atlanta Theater Workshop. Under the tutelage of Kallol Nandi, Shubho has performed in various productions, including comedic (in ‘The Stone’) and slice-of-life (in ‘A Modern Story’) roles. He has expanded his repertoire by taking on challenging roles in plays like ‘Gondhojaale’ and ‘Barnobiporjoy’. Notably, he had the opportunity to be part of the cast in the famous play ‘Patalbabu Filmstar’ directed by Soumitra Mitra, a veteran theater professional from the Purba Paschim theater group in Kolkata, India.

Looking ahead, Shubho is committed to connecting with and entertaining his audience through the universal language of theater. He believes that this is just the beginning of his theatrical journey.
